Ana mentioned horror movies and Emmett stiffened. He wished he had Edward's 'talent' right now to see if she was starting to get suspicious. Emmett tried to keep it light and looked at Ana with puppy eyes and half pout.
"A horror movie? Scary? I mean I know I'm big, but am I really that scary? I'm just a big teddy bear, really." Emmett flashed a small smile at Ana.
He thought about how lucky she was to meet the older brother of his family. Edward had seduced the last human whose blood sang for him, and Jasper just didn't have the control yet. Emmett rubbed his hand through his short hair and laughed.
"But I guess gossip travels fast in Forks. Nothing creepier than the Cullen family, eh?"

Dark eyes had been watching for any kind of reaction from Emmett, Ana only noticed a small stiffening. It wasn’t the kind of reaction you would expect from a killer, so maybe he wasn’t so bad. Ana chuckled at herself and at Emmett’s expression. It was her initial reaction to suspect that a perfectly nice stranger was some one there to inflict harm. She had obviously been living in big cities far too long.
Ana returned Emmett’s smile, she couldn’t help it, his expressions were more infectious than anyone she had known. “No, you’re not that scary, initially just intimidating” she shrugged, and smiled at his comment about his family. “I don’t really believe much of what they say, its just small town gossip right?” Ana pulled a strand of hair from her face. “Do you think its because you guys don’t socialize much? I mean its such a small community… where do you get your company?”
Long fingers pulled at the threads in her jacket, why was he bothering talking to her? If the Cullen’s didn’t socialize much, why did he bother?

Ana's smile made her look like a different person and Emmett felt himself grinning in return. He spun the football in his hands again, part of his mind wandering back to Rosalie. He looked at the ground as his thoughts strayed, but then snapped back when a cold wind blew through Forks again, blowing Ana's scent towards him. He held the football tight in his hands for a moment, restraining himself, then bounced it easily on the ground and it came back instantly.
"Well, I guess we don't socialize because people think we're intimidating." he replied, "But when you've got four siblings you don't really need that many friends. I mean, Rosalie, Edward, Alice and Jasper are better friends than anyone could imagine, but sometimes it's nice to meet someone who doesn't know every detail about you, you know?"
Emmett bounced the ball again and caught it, then twisted it in his hands again, the familiar shape moving with ease in his well co-ordinated grip. He would have to be careful not to let his thirst get to him in case he popped it in his hands.

“It must be kind of lonely” Ana agreed, she understood that at least, she was so sick of her parents, they were the only people she had really become close to her entire life. Ana wasn’t even given the chance to befriend others, to build strong friendships. Shallow ones, however, she was a master of. Dark brown eyes flicked in his direction. “Well, I would offer myself up, but I suppose it’s a bit early for that kind of thing.” A cheeky grin pulled at the edges Ana’s mouth, it was hard to joke and look at him in the same moment.
Long fingers ran along her legs, the tips of them were numb. She wouldn’t have ever been able to do what Emmett was doing with that ball, but she had enjoyed football. “You a ball fan then? I liked to play when I was little, they liked me to play with them, cause I was small and fast then when I started dancing, they liked me to play even more, I skipped around the others.” Ana chuckled at the memory, ‘they’ were her family, the larger half, the gypsies from her mothers side. A small hand pushed through her hair, maybe Emmett would befriend the newbie.

Emmett was pleased to see that she was starting to relax. the wind seemed to have relented for now, and that was very, very lucky. He smiled at her half-offer and bounced his ball again.
"It's not too early. But I figured if you were too afraid to be my friend, you would've run for the hills by now."
He looked at the surrounding park and forestry. Forks was his favorite home so far, and being allowed out during the day amongst humans was one of the best parts. Emmett glanced up at the clouds again, double checking that the sun wasn't a risk. It was now completely submerged behind the clouds, not even one ray seeping through. He looked back at Ana.
"Football? I must say, I didn't pick you as the type. Mind you, every team needs their runner who can evade the others. But that was never really me. I guess it's pretty obvious what I play... Also, who are 'they'?" Emmett questioned
Emmett then heard footsteps that were coming closer. A jogger became visible in a fluro track suit, going down the street, past them. They seemed oblivious to Emmett and Ana sitting on the park bench.

Ana grinned, it was true, she would have run for the hills, even still she wasn’t sure if Emmett was the kind of person she should hang with. Sure he seemed nice, but she couldn’t get over the cold look of his skin and his dark eyes. She grinned at his football comment. “I'm not really the type, I'm a dancer, but it helps to be all sorts of things when you move as much as my family does.” A small smile pulled at the edges of her lips, it was a sad smile, she didn’t exactly enjoy her childhood of constantly being the new girl. “‘They’ are various people from various school and neighborhoods.”
Dark eyes flicked toward the street and caught on the fluro jogging suit bouncing down the street. An involuntary grin grew across Ana’s face, she chuckled at the sight. “The fashion in small towns never ceases to amaze me…. Though you don’t seem so bad.”

Emmett grinned at the jogger, watching until they were out of sight. he looked back at Ana, his eyes observing her face carefully. His eyes should still be pretty much amber after feeding recently, but he looked away soon after, just to be safe.
"You move around too, huh? Yeah, I've lived in a lot of places as well. But I think Forks is my favourite."
He looked at the park surrounding them and the houses nearby. He smiled, glancing at the clouds and leant back again, tossing his ball in the air, catching it easily.
"And my fashion? Well, I won't lie, I have quite a bit of money to spend on clothes, but most of the time Rosalie buys them for me, and I 'spose Alice too. It's not really something that I care phenomenally about. Most people who live here don't seem to care at all about fashion, but I like your style. It's nice and quirky. But oh no, there'll be rumors about that piercing."
Emmett laughed, grinning at Ana again. She looked like she would be someone who was distant from everyone else. Emmett picked at the grip on his ball. It was pretty much worn out from his practice last night.
